Anyone who hasn't seen Bren Price's work is truly missing out on a magnificent experience. It is intriguing. She has surpassed mere color and function and has gone beyond the canvas into a world of harmony, vibrancy, and excitement. A true master of the watercolor medium.
-- Deborah Sisson, Tempo Editor, Taos News

-- M. Douglas Walton, Director, Watercolor Encounter

-- Joanne Forman, Taos News

Beneath the Cross, 43" x 56", watercolor, 66k

Beneath the Cross, watercolor

An air of mystery seems to pervade Price's use of color and abstraction...
-- Art Talk

Buffalo Spirit, 56" x 29", watercolor, 66k

Buffalo Spirit, watercolor

Price's work is intriguing and visually stunning. Her sensitive yet powerful use of color characterizes a uniquely beautiful and evolving vision. Her imagery is often haunting and archetypal in nature -- fetishes and Kachina spirits, Madonna figures, faceless oriental women from some sensual realm of myth and magic.
-- J. Nathaniel Hunt, freelance writer

Growth and movement are what Bren Price's work is all about.
-- Elaine Pinkerton, Santa Fe Profile

Taos ARtist Bren Price, Touchstone Bed and Breakfast Inn

Painting

The expressionistic method of Bren Price has been compared to the randomity of jazz -- a juxtaposition of the logical with the random..."Imagine shadows dancing across a person's face -- the colors and shapes created there in a fleeting instant -- include these with the logical." Through this interplay, she gives her work life and movement, creating a compelling and ever-evolving freshness..
-- C. Johnson, Director, Gallery of Fine Art, Oklahoma City

Writing

Bren Price: "Inside the Wind is a book about changing -- a metamorphosis; it is another piece of myself -- a kind of touchstone. Most of the passages are very personal, but universal -- open-ended, stretching beyond some realm we never completely realize."

Inside the Wind is a visual treat published by Santa Fe's Sunstone Press in an edition of just over 1000 copies. ...Price's poetry and prose intertwine with vivid, high-quality color plates in a manner reminiscent of lines of poetry intended to be read simultaneously. They are linked, but maintain their individual integrity...Price's poems offer us insights into both her watercolors and her own deeper aspects. "I know you by the who you are -- not by the face you wear" explains one poem. The facelessness of every figure Price paints here suddenly comes to us with a shock of poetic as well as visual recognition.
-- Jocelyn Lieu, Artlines

Bren Price: "A personality has many faces -- interaction of the viewer allows him to create his own image of the face behind the mask. A face exists as a focal point...leaving it out urges one to see beyond the usual...as with a vessel, 'it is the sides that shape the bowl, but it is what is not there that gives it purpose'."
